School Site Manager Required January 2017

Local school requires a Site Manager. Basic duties are below. Please contact us on 020 8549 3442 for more information.

● To be responsible for the overall security of the school premises.● Ensure that the premises are opened prior to the start of the school day and secured at the end of it.● To act as keyholder, attending call outs and supervising access to the site, outside normal working hours where required (time off in lieu granted where appropriate).● To be responsible for the use, maintenance and secure storage of plant and equipment based at the school.● Operate and monitor heating, plumbing and electrical systems in accordance with instructions and current safety legislation and ensure that the most cost effective use is made of such systems.● Oversee schedules and routine maintenance liaising with contractors and suppliers as necessary.● Monitor standards of work undertaken by outside contractors and make routine reports to theSchool Business Manager.● Undertake routine minor routine maintenance including plumbing, carpentry, electrical work,painting and general building work in accordance with instructions and current safety legislation.● Oversee and monitor the electrical testing of portable electrical appliances and maintain records.● Undertake regular health and safety checks of buildings, grounds, fixtures and fittings in accordance with schedules and keep records of checks.● Ensure that the fire alarm system, escape routes, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting are checked and records kept.● Monitor cleaning standards of buildings and grounds, taking action as necessary to improve standards achieved by staff and contractors, liaising directly with cleaning contractor and refuse collection agency.● Undertake ‘emergency cleaning duties’ which may occur during the school day (which may include clearing up of ‘hazardous substances’).● Undertake regular maintenance of the grounds and building surrounds, including mowing and other minor grounds maintenance duties, including ensuring the outside areas of the school are free from litter and rubbish.● Ensure that all paved and surfaced areas of the school are kept in a tidy and safe state, to include removal of leaves and debris and during icy conditions treated accordingly to ensure the safety of staff and pupils.● To drive the school minibus once a week for swimming and as required and be responsible forensuring that they are kept clean and evident mechanical faults promptly addressed.● Oversee and undertake the arrangement, removal or relocation of classroom and/or general school furniture, in accordance with manual safe handling practices.● Assist with any set up or access arrangements for school events - eg parents’ evenings.● To comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Regulations. To take reasonable care for the Health/Safety of self and others, and to support the School Business Manager in ensuring that Health and Safety duties are carried out.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Education and training Essential: Good standard of general education Clean driving licence with D1

Desirable: Relevant qualification to role Experience Essential: Experience of working in a building maintenance or repair role

Desirable: Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, manual handling, COSHH. Abilities and skills● Good communication skills, both orally and in writing.● Good organisational skills and methodical approach to record keeping.● Flexible approach and able to deal with changing priorities● Ability to prioritise own workload effectively.● Ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a team.● Ability to relate to pupils.
