Food production Operative – Chessington

Pay rate: £12.30 to £13.56 per hour

Hours/Shift: Day Shift 7am – 7pm, Night Shift 7pm – 7am, 4 days on 4 days off on rotation

Salary: Day shift starting at £12.30 per hour and Night shift starting at £13.56 per hour, with fantastic opportunities to earn up to £14.54 per hour on day shift and £15.80 per hour on night shift within the next 3-6 months, overtime regularly available at 150%. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL OF THESE RATES WILL RISE ON THE 1ST APRIL 2026.

NESI are currently on the search for full time permanent Food Production Operatives to join our day and night shifts. You will be working with a great team who are fun and supported by leaders who themselves have grown through the business and are waiting to pass on their knowledge and expertise!

Tasks include:

Set up machines and prepare complex production machinery including calibration, cleaning, start up checks and verification of line standards to ensure a smooth and efficient production cycle.

Optimise machine performance by controlling and adjusting key operating parameters (e.g. speed, alignment, cutting accuracy) to maintain consistent quality and throughput.

Handle raw material with precision feeding product into semi-automated machines and ensuring all components meet specification before processing.

Accurately load products into trays, pouches and bags in line with customer specifications and product quality requirements.

Present finished products to the highest standards, ensuring they are correctly packed, sealed, labelled and prepared for despatch and onward distribution.

Apply packaging components such as cardboard sleeves, labels and ancillary materials with accuracy, ensuring compliance with customer and retailer presentation standards.

Control stock movements by checking all incoming and outgoing materials against load plans and paperwork, maintaining full traceability and accuracy.

Maintain a safe, organised and hygienic working environment, following food safety, H&S and GMP requirements at all times.

Operate Manual Handling Equipment (MHE) safely and efficiently to support material flow, line replenishment and waste management.

Act as a role model for line standards, following SOP’s, CCP’S, hygiene rules and quality requirements in every task.

Support Continuous improvement, identifying issues, suggesting improvements and helping drive efficiency, waste reduction and better product quality.
